At this event hosted by PLA in conjunction with St Philips Chambers, the expert panel of speakers will be addressing recent developments in the law of boundaries, with a specific focus on situations affecting the development of land.

Programme:

Anthony Verduyn - Determined Boundaries: The Limits of Development
David Nuttall - Boundary Agreements: Implications for Development
Anya Newman - Adverse Possession: Threats to Development

Anthony Verduyn will address how determined boundaries can assist in circumstances where the precise line of the boundary is highly relevant to development or, at least, the number of properties that can be safely included.

David Nuttall will explore how boundary agreements can clarify the boundaries of sites, and so bring a welcome hard edge to an otherwise fuzzy line. He will also be looking at the other side of that coin - how and when unexpected boundary agreements can appear and bind successors in title. There will be consideration of what can be done to identify and mitigate these risks to developments.

Anya Newman will look at developments in adverse possession law through the lens of threats to development on brownfield sites, problems with ‘in-filling’ and the use of commercial premises.

Registration is at 5.30pm for a 5.45pm start. The event will include a Q&A session, followed by networking drinks.

Attendees are invited to submit any questions on the above areas in advance by email to events@pla.org.uk.
