Gatehouse Chambers, 1 Lady Hale Gate, London WC1X 8BS
PBA/PLA Joint Building Safety Act Seminar - in person
Booking is now closed.
The Building Safety Act 2022 contains wide-ranging provisions impacting upon building owners, leaseholders, developers and others. Many of those provisions are potentially uncertain in their meaning or scope, or direct parties to seek determinations from the Tribunal or the courts. How can we as litigators assist?
Speakers:
Tim Polli KC, Tanfield Chambers
Doug Rhodes, Trowers & Hamlins LLP
Simon Allison, Landmark Chambers
Rob Bowker, Tanfield Chambers
In this seminar, the speakers will each introduce particular aspects of the Act and flag up areas for potential dispute or applications that should be in the minds of most property litigators. There will then be a Q&A on the topic. Topics covered will include:
- Lessee protection provisions in Schedule 8: the ‘waterfall’
- New implied terms relating to building safety and for recovery of building safety costs
- Applications for Remediation Contribution Orders and Remediation Orders
- Identification of the accountable and principal accountable persons and applications for determination in cases of dispute
A degree of broad familiarity with the Act will assist those attending, but is not essential.
Registration is at 5.30pm for a 6pm prompt start. Formal proceedings will finish at 7.30pm and be followed by networking drinks.
Attendees are invited to submit any questions on the above areas in advance by email to enquiries@propertybar.org.uk
