Property Litigation Association launches D&I committee

I’m delighted to tell you all that the PLA is launching a new committee to promote diversity, equity and inclusion. 
 
Recognising the need for more diversity within the profession the PLA became a major supporter of the Black Talent Charter in May this year, which aims to significantly increase the recruitment and representation of black professionals in the UK business community.
 
The PLA’s new committee will initially prioritise efforts to improve ethnic minority representation, gender equality and social mobility, with scope to include other protected characteristics in future.
 
This new committee has an incredibly important role to play in delivering the PLA’s long-standing objective of promoting diversity, equity and inclusion both within our membership and the wider industry. Law is traditionally a sector that’s been slow to change but we urgently need to open up to more diverse talent and become much more representative of the society we serve. 
 
I’d therefore like to invite all PLA members, whatever their background or qualification, to get in touch if they’d be interested in joining the committee and lending their voice in support of this critical conversation.  I also ask applicants to indicate whether they would like to be considered for appointment as Chair of the new committee.
