PLA proposed reform of the 1954 Act survey

The Law Commission has recently launched the first phase of its consultation into the potential reform of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954. The 1954 Act is of central importance to property litigators and any reform will have a significant impact on our work. The PLA Law Reform Committee will be preparing a response to the consultation on behalf of the PLA and is asking members to submit answers to the consultation questions using their PLA proposed reform of the 1954 Act survey.Read article -

PLA survey: Reform of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954

Focusing on the Landlord and Tenant Act 1954 (the “Act”) and the extent to which it is still fit for purpose, a new PLA project will explore different aspects of the current security of tenure regime, including the overall process and the role of the courts, contracting out, the terms of the new lease and the process for opposing renewal, and we are asking members to contribute by completing a short survey.Read article -
