JPLA blog: The future of networking?
There was a buzz of feverish networking activity on 18 April 2023, as the JLPA held a “Speed Networking” event in partnership with BPF Futures at the offices of Trowers & Hamlins.
In a brilliantly well-attended event, members of the JPLA were able to network with other property professionals from across the diverse membership of BPF Futures. The event was split into two sessions in which each person had the opportunity to individually speak to (and exchange contact details with) 14 different people. The sessions were separated by general networking and drinks and the event finished up with more drinks and canapes! All in all, it was great event with positive feedback received.
We are proud to have run this event in partnership with BPF Futures whose membership encompasses: surveyors, architects, asset managers, property managers and agents, and other property solicitors, and this was therefore a great event for JPLA members to improve their networking skills and expand their network.
We were also delighted to be joined by a guest speaker, Priya Shah the founder and director of BAME in Property. BAME in Property is doing fantastic work in promoting more ethnic diversity in the property and planning sectors, and Priya gave a thought-provoking and entertaining speech discussing unconscious bias and other challenges facing the industry.
Attendees commented that “It was great to meet so many people at one event, rather than sticking to the same 2-3 people I meet at the start” and “What a great way to meet different property professionals”.
Such was the success, the JPLA will be considering plans for a future networking event, so please stay tuned for news on that.
