I thought it would be helpful to take a few moments of your day to introduce myself, having recently taken over from Richard Bedford as South West & South Wales PLA Chair.

I met with Richard and our other committee members in January. My first task has been to organise the Dilapidations panel evening, jointly with the local RICS, which will take place on April 26. 

For our next event we are arranging a talk from Stephanie Tozer and Oliver Radley-Gardner of Falcon Chambers in respect of the new (ish) telecoms regime, giving both an operator’s and a landowner’s perspective, to take place in late Summer / Autumn.

We are also looking to arrange a social event before the end of the year – possibly a bring a surveyor party – but suggestions here are welcome.

One challenge for the committee is to try and broaden the reach beyond Bristol. Experience tells us that it can be difficult to muster sufficient numbers for events in say Cardiff or Exeter but again any thoughts here are welcome. In any event, we will hopefully be able to arrange video links for the April 26 event.

The current committee members are: Richard Bedford of Burges Salmon, Chris Taylor of Clarke Willmott, Emily Van Schalkwyk of Osborne Clark, Neil Morgan of Darwin Gray and Michael Duncan, also of WBD (Michael is the JPLA Chair).
